5,000 Instagram Followers. 90 Days. 1 Guide.

Read time: 6 minutes

This is the first newsletter I've ever written.

But I'm going to skip the fluff and all the cringey intros, and get right into it.

Today I'm going to show you how to gain your first 5,000 Instagram followers.

We live in a world of hacks, paid followers, and begging people to interact with our content. This will be a much more organic approach to growing on the Gram.

I'm going to show you how to focus on connecting with the right people.

And by connecting with the right people (or followers), you increase your life and business in the long run.

The problem with most guides, blogs, and how-to videos when it comes to growing a social media audience, is that they focus on sheer numbers. Volume. Vanity metrics. Rather than showing you how to find the followers best fit for your account, your content, and what you believe (your values ~ you do have some of those, right? Ok cool - just checking!)

5,000 real followers are better than 50,000 random followers.

There's no hacks that'll boost your following by thousands overnight in this guide. Sorry to disaapoint. If that's waht yoJust proven things that have helped me pick up the perfect followers - and can do the same for you too. A 'perfect' follower is someone who sees you as:

  • Somebody they can learn from

  • Somebody they can network with

  • Somebody to share opportunities with

  • Could be a customer of your product/service in the future

Lets' get stuck into your 90 action plan.

Day 1: Optimise Your Profile

You MUST give people a solid reason why they should follow you. Answer these questions to grab attention of potential followers:

  1. Is this person legit?

  2. Is this person for me?

  3. Can this person help me?

Pair those with a crisp headshot (profile pic). 1000 x 1000 created in Canva is what I used...

Day 1 to 30: Document Don't Create

Figure out what you're obsessed with and bring people along on your journey. For me, it's mountain biking, and creating immersive content of my riding (quite literally 'bringing people along for the ride' ha!)

Day 31 to 60: Double Down On What Worked

After 30 days, you'll have a bank of content to look back on. Some of your content will have resonated, while others dropped faster than a led balloon. That's normal. Don't panic. You're doing fine.

We use this data (the content that resonated most and performed the best) to double-down and recreate similar content. If it ain't broke, why fix it kinda vibe.

Figure out why those specific styles of content worked so well.

Was it the hook? Was it the subject in the content? Was it something you said?

For me, point-of-view (POV) videos have performed the best - so I double down and figure out new and creative ways to share my content.

Day 61 to 90: Build Your Ecosystem

Fist bump! You now have an optimised profile and 60 days worth of content to analyse - and if you're resonating with the right people, a fair few of the right followers too.

Now is the best time to set up a small network of like-minded people, on a similar journey to you.

> Identify 3 topics you like> Find large accounts in those spaces> Engage with people by replying to them> Be proactive in building a community

By supporting and connecting with people relevant to you, you'll generally earn their support back with a follow.

TLDR

Day 1: Optimise your profile: Why should people follow you?

Day 1 to 30: Document don't create: Share content daily

Day 31 to 60: Double down on what works: Find your best performing content and do more of that.

Day 61 to 90: Build your ecosystem: Grow a small network. of relevant people and interact with their audience daily.

Let me know how it goes!

Talk soon my friends.
